    One thing that is really unique about Tim Walz is how he inspires so many people to support him.

    When that former student went on TV to vouch for him… Like, I can’t name any other politician that has that level of support among normal people.

    And he definitely has a whole shit ton of charisma.

      That said, I’m surprised more teachers don’t run. I would go to bat for my best teachers. The really great ones also had at least a 19:1 ratio of kids who liked them.

      They’re good at speaking, even in front of a noisy crowd, they need a thick skin and to be able to shut down a kid who is out of line, and they’re empathetic and intellectually curious. Most of the good teachers I know are also deeply idealistic, which could go either way, but they’d at least have a political vision.

      A bad teacher is awful, but a good one seems like they’d make a good politician.
