    Why… Katy Perry?

Like, this just seems like a weird faux feminist thing (along her shite “Women’s World” song). I can thing of hundreds of brilliant women in aerospace who it would make sense to send to space.

Katy Perry isn’t even a good musician. She’s about as calculated of a sell out as you can get. Started as a “Christian” artist, but then figured out you could make bank lesbian baiting (“hope my boyfriend don’t mind it” and the reveal in the music video that it was ‘just a dream’)

Janelle Monáe would make sense. Ya know, Afrofuturist? Literally writes songs about being a badass space rebel? Genuinely good musician and actually queer?

Does Katy Perry even have songs about space other than the alien sex song?

I just watched the clip. Totally agree with your comment

Off topic but, her speaking voice… I would listen to that voice narrate grass growing. She don’t have a face for radio but she’s got the voice for it

There’s just something about this whole thing that feels gross and regressive. It’s celebrity space tourism, being presented as a “feminist” action because it’s all women. Amanda Nguyen and Aisha Bowe are actual scientists at least, but this isn’t really being done for science.

There’s just something gross about something being presented as a “Women in STEM” thing, when it’s mostly a self congratulatory bit. “First fully female crew since the Soviets!” but this is literally just an advertisement because Bezos and co. want space tourism to be a thing.

Totally agree. But feminism was co-opted and rendered subservient to capital a long time ago…

It’s women being paraded around as marketing tools for a company owned/controlled by a man
