  • I feel like now is also a good time to remind everyone that the numbers themselves will change over time and aren’t important.

I call them billionaires because that’s the number we happen to be on in the US right now, but not too long ago they would have been millionaires, and with a bit more inflation they will start to be one trillionaires. Back in 1950 in the US, the highest Federal tax bracket of 91% applied to AGI over $200,000, for example.

I found an estimate here that there are 2,640 USD billionaires in the world today, but that fluctuates with stock prices, exchange rates, inflation, etc. All it takes is for one economically important country to decide it wants to impose tariffs on everyone and then the market tanks and a chunk of these billionaires become hundred-millionaires until it recovers.

2,640 Billionaires divided by the roughly 8,200,000,000 on the world is about .000322% of the population. I think there are a lot of people today whose net worth might only be 9 digits long that are doing a pretty similar level of damage to the world as billionaires. Removing billionaires is a great START.

  • What incoherent rambling. The author claims that the problem with America is that… People don’t move where they live often anymore? This has allegedly been a decline since 1985, and the reason for it is… Progressives? Despite them never being more than a minority wing of the opposition party (the Dems have only had control of the Presidency and both houses of Congress for a few months in 2011- other than that the entire 40 year time span had at least one of those controlled by Republicans, and the Supreme Court has been conservative that entire time)

I kept on scrolling and skimming to try to find the authors reasoning for how progressives caused this and why it is bad, but eventually gave up after going through walls of text. The author listed a bunch of stats relating to the “decline” of society which included declines in church membership and birth rate… I’m not convinced either of those are bad things. They also mentioned that diversity and inclusion are somehow bad without going into detail.

So either incoherent rambling of someone with brain damage (maybe a stroke similar to Fetterman?) or just paid-for GOP propaganda.

  • What an awful piece of pro-parasitic propaganda.

According to the article, the landlords “described him as originally a “good tenant” until he was served notice to move out”

So they just… Randomly decided to kick out their tenant. And he said “no, you can’t do that. I don’t have anywhere to live”. And because of the dispute and and the legal proceedings involved he chose to stop paying them rent and the bills for their property until all of those legal proceedings are done. This piece of shit news rag even has a quote from him saying he is prepared to pay the money owed if issued by a court order. What the newsrag fails to mention is that the courts might rule in his favor that he is not legally obligated to pay that, so he is far better off withholding the payment than trying to collect it back from them later.

This garbage article is almost trying to paint him as a squatter, but if you look past the sensationalized language and just read his quotes and the facts, it becomes clear that he is using pretty reasonable protections to buy time to arrange somewhere else to live.

You can’t just agree to rent out a property for someone to live in and then randomly decide to kick them out whenever you please. If you aren’t prepared for that responsibility then you should not be landlording.
