Pulp Fiction wouldn’t be quite the same.

Sex is our primary driver. It’s human. Any surprise it’s all over our media?

I feel ya though, shouldn’t be used just because it draws eyeballs, often doesn’t have a place.

I’ll have to take your word for it since I avoid I avoid Tarantino. Just personal taste.

I was thinking about it after I commented and the only instances where I thought it added was for the gimmick of it being funny like rocknrolla or planet terror each time it was ultra short and not dragged out. Can’t think of a serious movie I saw where it did something.

Made sense in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. TBF, not really the scenes I remember to begin with. I’d need a list to pick out which ones aren’t there just because.

Regardless, just cause we’ve got extraneous ones now doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be any. That’s too far the opposite way.

I was told to avoid it for some reason. Like it was gore or something? It was ages since I heard anyone mention it so forgot. How did you feel about the movie overall?

To convince me otherwise, I need to see it make sense in a serious movie where skipping it will make the rest of the movie confusing. Like it was wierd in top gun maverick. Whole family there going oh yall I’ll grab remote and move past this and we lost nothing of value.

The movie is amazing, both the American and Swedish versions.

I’m pretty sure I know the scene you’re thinking of. Don’t know if I’d consider the scene gore just because they don’t show a lot, though I can’t recall the Swedish version of it that much. It’s mostly implied. Same way you don’t see the actors actually having sex.

All of the sex scenes are part of Lisbeth Salander’s character arc. The first two showing why she hates men.

I don’t think there’s are many sex scenes in movies that actually have story information in it. Probably some spy movies. But, if you include scenes that get interrupted by the story then the number shoots up.

If you removed them all from Girl with the Dragon Tattoo I don’t think you’d be confused, but the story would be less impactful. I suppose you might be confused about why Lisbeth acts the way she does.
