The rebels are not benign freedom fighters, they’re jihadists with links to Islamic State and Al Qaeda. They’ve been trying to clean up their image but it’s still a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire unfortunately. The country is devided on ethnic and religious lines, so unfortunately we should expect further conflict.
