What is the issue with voter registration in the US? In Canada you update your voter information whenever you submit your taxes and you just show picture ID on the day.
If you’ve moved to another riding between tax seasons and forgot to update your info, you can combine picture ID with a current piece of mail, like your latest utility bill or bank statement and you have to get someone to vouch for you.
You might be able to get away with voting a bunch of times by getting mail with your name sent to different areas and paying people to vouch for you, but you’re going to get found out pretty quickly.

GOP groups have repeatedly done studies where the examined which forms of ID black people were least likely to possess, then made those requirements for voting.
