Big ew that governments opress the righty of people like that, in a free country you also get to chose when you want to die, it shouldn’t be up to anyone else.

I can kinda see the point though.

The right to death is fundamental to the entire concept of self determination. But it also comes with side effects since a person’s death causes ripples. This kind of “device” would be very easy to exploit by someone wanting to cause a death for their own reasons, and it bypasses the established process that protects not only the person wanting to exercise their right to death, but everyone else involved.

It’s one of those things where it’s a great mechanism, but it’s ignoring too much of the issues with suicide as a societal aspect

Let me be clear though, the right to death isn’t one that the government should limit beyond making sure that it actually is the person exercising that right rather than something else. That can mean a lot of hoops to jump through that aren’t ideal, but life isn’t ideal to begin with, there’s always hoops to jump through when you’re part of human society.

We’re getting weirdly close to a Futurama suicide booth.

It does seem problematic that this could be purchased and in someone’s home with zero oversight. I would at least expect you should have to register this like owning a firearm.
