According to a recent survey, half (50 per cent) of Canadian pet parents have either skipped or declined necessary veterinary care for their pets.

    Maybe if vets were not racing divorce lawyers to the bottom of the ethics ranking for professionals, then more people would trust them to look after their pets.

    My indoor cats have seena vet once. To get their private bits smashed off their bodies. All animals lived 10-15 years without vet visits

    I’ve had 2 dogs, one whom I took regularly to the vet and they ended up killing it because of medication the dog was allergic too.

    The 2nd, had her private bits smashed off I only go if something is wrong with her, which is never. I don’t need to pay hundreds for someone to keep telling me she’s fine.

      Cats and dogs are very good at hiding illness and they can be in severe distress without visible changes to behavior. And bloodwork can often be an early warning sign of problems while they’re still treatable. I’m sorry you had a problem with your vet but there’s no reason to think that regular health checks would be less important for your pets than they are for a human. If anything, they’re more important, because they can’t tell us when they’re experiencing discomfort.
