Trump took the narrative to the next level in a softball interview with TV host Dr. Phil that aired this week. The first quarter of the hour-long conversation focused on Trump’s brush with death as a divine miracle, which was a major theme of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee just days after the attack. “It has to be God,” Trump said to Dr. Phil about surviving the shooting.

The “divine miracle”, “god saved me”, “there but for the grace of God go i”, and similar sentiments about why you were lucky to avoid disaster are the most arrogant commonly accepted statemens/platitudes in the world. ESPECIALLY when other innocents were unlucky enough to have that disaster inflicted upon them. ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY when someone fucking died. ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY when the disaster that resulted in someone else’s death was because of YOU. God saved you, Trump? So just fuck the guy who took a bullet for you instead? Apparently, at best, God didn’t give a fuck about him. At worst, God wanted him to die senselessly. What a shitty fucking person you are. Throw another reason to hate you on the pile.

He went on to claim that the assassination attempt could’ve ended up like the 2017 massacre on the Las Vegas Strip, where hundreds of people were gunned down.

Here’s the sad thing… he brings this up because he wishes this were the case. If there had been such a massacre and he’d survived, it would only further cement his own sense of divine righteousness and made him even more of a hero among his MAGA crazies. He wishes more than the one had died to make his survival story even better. The man is a sociopath.
